New Research from Knox, Jones-Smith, and Colleagues Further Evaluates the Effects of Seattle’s Sweetened Beverage Tax

CSDE Affiliates Melissa Knox, Jessica Jones-Smith, and several co-authors recently published a new study of the Seattle sweetened beverage tax (SBT) in Preventative Medicine Reports. The study leverages a mixed-mode survey to adults in Seattle and comparison areas, pre- and 2-years post-tax, to evaluate the impact of the SBT on 1) tax support and 2) perceived tax impacts. The authors use a difference-in-differences approach to isolate the attitudinal response to the tax.
